Spring hinges are meant to “spring” closed behind you. They can be adjusted to tighten or loosen the tension on the spring which will in turn increase or decrease the speed of the door closing. They are typically used on a door leading from inside a home to a garage as well as in some commercial applications in place of a door closer.
